Concert FAQs
What is the best level of protection for live music?
For concerts, it is recommended to use earplugs with a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 15-30 dB. This range provides adequate protection without compromising the overall concert experience. Earplugs with an NRR below 15 dB may not provide sufficient protection, while those above 30 dB may excessively muffle the sound, making it difficult to enjoy the music.
If you’re not sure which reduction is right for you, EARPEACE Music comes with several filter options to switch out for a custom experience.
Medium Protection (16dB-17dB) - Best for situations where hearing softer sounds is still important to the experience. Examples might include a jazz club or the movies.
High Protection (20dB) - The best all-around filter for live music. Perfect for situations like a music festival where safety is critical but you are still communicating with others.
Max Protection (24dB) - Best for environments where you need extra protection. Examples include indoor concert venues or clubs where the sound can stay elevated in the 115dB range for extended periods of time.
Ultra-Max Protection (26dB) - Sound pressure doubles with every 3 decibels giving the Ultra-Max filter almost twice the attenuation power of Max. If you have sensitive hearing or hearing loss - this is the filter for you. Best used in sports stadiums or arenas where the noise level can exceed 125dB.
What is the difference between MUSIC and MUSIC PRO?
EarPeace launched in 2008 with a comfortable and durable double-coned silicone earplug featuring precision-drilled filters. This is our Original. With Original you get a natural fit and out-of-the-box flexibility with the level of noise reduction you require, thanks to the 3 filter sets included (17db, 20db and 26db max reduction.)
In 2019 we launched our PRO line, built upon 3 patents for comfort and protection. Our PRO Contour™ earplug design is engineered to mold to the shape of your ear canal for a near custom fit. Our PRO filters are multi-layered acoustic filters which deliver a more precise, full-spectrum sound. When selecting PRO filters you choose the specific high-fidelity filter reduction level that’s right for you (16db, 20db or 24db). If you need additional filter options for your PRO earplugs, we offer PRO Filter and Replacement Sets separately.
Both Original and PRO include a premium aluminum Carrying Case and 2 sets of Earplugs sizes (one Small, one Standard).
Our PRO products automatically qualify for Free Shipping in the continental US.
Why should I wear earplugs at concerts and shows?
Noise from live music can cause serious damage like Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and tinnitus. According to the World Health Organization, “by 2050 nearly 2.5 billion people are projected to have some degree of hearing loss and at least 700 million will require hearing rehabilitation.”
NIHL is the only type of hearing loss that is completely preventable. The only thing you can do is try to preserve the hearing you have left. If you haven’t started, right now is the best time to begin preserving your hearing and preventing future damage.
Hearing protection doesn’t work unless it’s in your ears. That’s why we say the most effective kind of hearing protection is the kind you’ll actually use and is comfortable to wear. We’ve engineered EARPEACE to be the precise blend of technology and comfort, and we have the industry trust to prove it. But we’re not afraid to be compared. At the end of the day, we want you to find what works for you.
