by EarPeace April 14, 2014

Discovery 2 has teamed up with IMC (International Music Community) to present some of the UK’s hottest emerging bands and singers. Strangefruit with their haunting cinematic anthems, blistering Welsh rock band The Undivided, the cheeky and talented starlet-frontedStella and the Shakes and singer songwriter Ethan Ash garnering mainstream attention with his mesmeric and intimate vocal-style  DJs TwentyOne & AKW playing till late.

STRANGEFRUIT (London)

Featuring the collective talents of the charismatic Jenny Maxwell [vocals/piano], the Perrett brothers (Jamie Perrett [guitar/vocals] and Peter Perrett Jnr [bass]) and Jake Woodward [drums], Strangefruit has garnered a burgeoning reputation as a captivating live band. Their original and powerful musicianship has been mesmerising audiences at UK clubs and festivals including Secret Garden Party, Solfest, Blissfields and The Wilderness Festival. They’ve also already played with the likes of Florence and The Machine and Dizzee Rascal.

“Beautiful indie rock with a darker edge…File this one under psyche/folk/ambient and oh so great.” – Tom Haugen – Inforty

“Stunning debut brimming with cinematic, diverse and haunting tracks that are akin to a mini movie soundtrack.” – 55Factory.net

THE UNDIVIDED (Cardiff)

The Undivided have been making waves across the South Wales music scene and beyond with their anthemic brand of indie rock. Hailing from the South Wales valleys, they have gained a reputation as a blistering live act, delivering passionate performances that have swelled the ranks of their growing and dedicated fanbase. The band have supported Ash and The Xcerts and have had songs from their new LP, “This New Day” played on Radio 1. Top band!

“The Undivided have a knack for writing anthemic songs as big as the mountains that overshadow their hometown of Abergavenny” – Kerrang Magazine

“Wingman guitarist Bray does a fine line in stadium trashing intros, and numbers like ‘Open Your Eyes’ and ‘Panic’ are immediately mesmerising. Singer Joe comes alive on these numbers too, as if he knows Bray’s scorching intros, a collision of U2, early Simple Minds, and SLF, are something to follow and indeed match.” – AP Childs – Artrocker.TV

STELLA AND THE SHAKES (London)

Stella and the Shakes draw on blues, jazz, soul, gospel and rock ‘n’ roll influences to create a unique and eclectic concoction of sonic brilliance. The band are the current “Mayor’s GIGS Big Busk” champions. Over the past year, they have been working with composer/producer Guy Jackson on their sophomore EP, “Shake It Up”. With an upbeat rock ‘n’ roll track penned in as the leading single, their bright and audacious musical journey continues at a pace.

“We expect big things for this young starlet!” – Becca Wren – Project Manager, SBTV

“Stella instantly reminded me of Baby from Dirty Dancing – delicate, smooth, cheeky and talented. Her initially shy stage presence completely vanishes when she starts to sing and her live show is gracious, awless and entertaining.” – Sian Anderson – SighTracked

“More than anything else it’s the range Ash has that proves why it’s only a matter of time until he smashes through his glass ceiling into mainstream attention.” – 7 Bit Arcade
